Apache River Dog Coats will keep your dog cozy, warm and dry on even the coldest winter days. Manufactured by Norman Equine Designs, a premier maker of horse blankets, these coats impressed us because of their lightweight, yet super-warm fabric and snug, ingenious fit.
The coat wraps around your dog's chest and belly, something many other dog coats are lacking, and dachshund owners will be happy to know that they come in regular and LONG sizes (that actually reach all the way to the end of a dachshund's behind!).
These coats are made of fleece fabric with a full lining and are designed to hug your dog's body like a second layer of fur. Plus, they are a cinch to take on and off: just slip over your dog's head, bring the breast flap through the front legs, then attach the (incredibly strong) Velcro to the body on each side.

Apache River Coats can be custom cut to fit your dog. Just send us your dog’s measurements and breed (use our Contact Us page) and the manufacturer will create a coat sized just for your individual dog.* (*There is a slight extra charge for this, usually about $5-$10.)
Custom-made dog coats are made specially to fit your dog and are not returnable.
Sizing
Measure your dog from the base of the collar to the base of his tail, around the chest in the deepest part and around his neck where the collar sits. The coats are sized in 2-inch increments (i.e. 8,9,10,12). After getting your dog's measurements, compare them to the chart above. Please note regular or long (longs are 3" longer).
Custom-made dog coats are not returnable. This includes Long-length in larger sizes 18-34 Long and any coat that is modified to fit your dog's measurements. Regular sized dog coats, along with sizes 8-16 long, are returnable and exchangeable.
